About

Counterpoint: Reading the Understudied

Counterpoint is an interdisciplinary reading group exploring overlooked histories, languages, environments, technologies, communities, and forms of knowledge, with a particular interest in Global South perspectives.

The group itself reflects this interest, with members from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds who bring their own experiences and perspectives to the discussion. Rather than seeking to replace dominant narratives, Counterpoint considers how other voices, experiences, and ideas may enrich, complicate, or reframe familiar understandings. Through scholarly works, fiction, poetry, discussions, and exchanges on members’ own research, the group creates a space to reflect on how knowledge is produced, represented, circulated, and contested.
